I don’t even know where to start. I’m happy I ran the ‘big beauties’ column when I did because now I’m too tired to talk. My internal world is a lot less words and dominantly primordial signals to eat, lie down, feel something soft.
I wrote in my last ‘big beauties’ update that I had given up on printing in Nigeria and for sale. I ended up printing in the UK and it cost so much that it makes sense to put it up for sale and try to make some of that money back. Also, from the beginning, I wanted this book in people’s homes, on their bedside tables.
I sent some complimentary copies out to a couple early supporters, a couple undergrad lecturers who I owe so much to, to all my previous school & uni libraries, the library at the Goethe-Institut Nigeria, and now have about 25 left with me.
If I get enough orders to go print again, I’ll go again. But with the prices UK printers are calling for me, it’s looking like it will be cheaper for me to buy my own printer and papers and start printing the books in my house. I could print in India/China and co, but I don’t have any contacts there. (Please don’t suggest anything to me rn, I beg you. I am too weak to even talk to you.) + my primary markets are Nigeria and the UK, so at least I cut shipping costs to the UK by printing there.

Been a long time since I mentioned Sweet Medicine here, but Sweet Medicine and Restful are twins! Remember my post about dreaming of both of them on a bus in London in 2017. I was taking classes on Witnessing (studying writings by Simone Weil, Derrida and others), Outsiders in Medieval Europe, Making of the Self, and Anxieties of Empire. That’s the manure that seeded these fruits.
